Find financial advice

Investing can be complicated and confusing.

The Nasdaq stock market alone makes millions of trades with billions of shares each day. This website explains the basics of investing, but there’s much more to know and it’s hard to learn everything at once.

Fortunately you don’t have to go it alone. Here are some places where you can find financial advice:

  • Brokerage firms. If you use a brokerage firm, for example to open an Individual Retirement Account, you may have access to financial advice. Full-service brokerages offer a range of financial services including personalized investment advice for a fee, but even a discount broker has customer service staff.

  • Green America lists financial planners and consultants who specialize in socially responsible investing. Some may work for a flat fee while others work for a percentage of your investments they manage.

While you can learn a lot from educational resources such as this website and the Finance section of the Green America website, consulting with a financial planner can help you find the right path with your investments, both financially and socially.
